Pre-school overview & ethos

Magic Box is a small, friendly outdoor-inspired not-for-profit Ofsted registered pre-school nestled amongst rolling fields in the village of Wellow in Somerset.

We are run by a caring, experienced team who are all parents themselves. We take genuine joy in preparing children for school life and beyond.

Play | learn | grow together

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage to ensure children learn through play, with a balance of child/adult led activities. We take inspiration from the wealth of countryside resources on our doorstep with regular welly walks and rural adventures throughout the seasons.

So whether it’s counting daisies in spring, making stick men for Wellow brook in summer or collecting apples to make our own crumble in autumn, learning is stimulating and fun. We truly love to watch each and every child blossom in this magical environment.

Meet our team

You provide a warm, caring environment while introducing learning and structure to prepare children for school. Fantastic!” PARENT

Safeguarding – definition

What is safeguarding?
Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

Safeguarding means:

  • Protecting them from abuse and maltreatment
  • Preventing harm to children’s health or development
  • Ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
  • Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes

Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which details how to respond to concerns about a child (NSPCC).
