As Easter approaches, we have had a busy term with learning about the changes that come with Spring, creating Mother’s day cards, designing a Spring collage, making flapjacks and pancakes to name but a few activities! Next week we will be sharing the Easter story with the children and inviting them to make Easter nests.
We are looking to buy some more ride-on bikes and trikes for the children to use out on the tarmac area. If anyone has any that they no longer use and could donate to Magic Box, we would be very grateful. Similarly if you see any cheap bikes e.g. in charity shops or second hand shops, please let us know!
We are collecting the Tesco for School vouchers. Last year we redeemed them for footballs to use on the field. There is a box to put them in on the table near the door. Thank you.
We are aware that there is some confusion over our charges at Magic Box. As you’ll know, children aged 3 and over are funded by the government for £3.55 per hour. We charge 63p per hour to cover the costs of extras such as presents at Christmas, Easter and when the children leave in July, also cookery ingredients, and healthy organic snacks which we provide twice a day. We’d rather provide such things for free, but once we’ve paid for rent of the Village Hall, insurance, staff wages (for highly qualified and very experienced staff – we only want the best for your children) and for equipment such as paper, paints, toys etc. we don’t have any money left to pay for any extras. We’re not a profit-making organisation, and we do try to raise extra money with fundraising such as the invitation books and the Spring Fayre. We can’t make a loss otherwise Magic Box close, and none of us wants that. You have the option of opting out of paying the 63p per hour extra (and providing your child’s snacks etc.) – if you would like to discuss this please see a member of staff.
On a fund-raising note: our Spring Fayre is on May 21st, and we need books, bric-a-brac, toys etc. We have a box for such things near the front table in Magic Box. Any donations gratefully received!
